    NaNoWriMo Week 2 ROUNDUP

Doing NaNo while sick is no joke! This month has brought a whole unique set of challenges, but I have to say, being a rebel has taken a lot of the pressure off to perform while also trying to get well. That being said, here’s the roundup for Week 2! WEEK 2 ROUNDUP Edited 10+ chapters of Dream Reaper Wordcount: Words Edited: 78203/118,392 Goal Wordcount: <115k Scenes added: 0 Scenes deleted: 0 Victories: Got the wordcount down to 118k! Made it past the Hero’s Choice moment whe

    NaNoWriMo Week 1 ROUNDUP

I decided to do something a little different for the blog this month: I’ll be posting on Thursdays instead of Sundays and including weekly roundups of how NaNoWriMo is progressing! You’re all welcome to join in and post a comment letting everyone know how it’s going or whether you need encouragement, etc! So let’s dive in! WEEK 1 ROUNDUP Switched projects on Day 2 (you’d be surprised how often this happens to me :P) Went full NaNo Rebel with editing instead of drafting. Editi

Camp Nano – To Infinity…and Beyond

How did a month pass so quickly? There’s only one full day of NaNo left! As you cobble together your final wordcount, as you hit “validate,” as you collect the delicious winner goodies, remember…writing is more than what you make of it in a month. Writing is a bigger and more beautiful venture than what any NaNo event can contain. Your story doesn’t end here. You don’t have to end here. Whether you met your goal or not, even if you far exceeded or fell short, that is not what

Camp Nano – Redefine Your Goals

Here we are, at the start of Camp NaNoWriMo’s Week 4! Where did the time go? In some ways, it feels like it’s been April forever…and then I look at my draft and realize that I’ve been working on this for more like six weeks (yes, I’m a rebel who started early!!) and I can’t believe how fast it’s gone! Week 4 finds different writers at different points. Some have surpassed their goals and are coasting toward the finish line. Some are trucking along right on schedule, due to me

Camp Nano – Steady Over Swift

The beginning of Week 3 is upon us! Week 2 has been conquered and Camp Nano is half over. Whether “conquered” looks to you like a triumphant king-of-the-hill moment, or more like crawling that last ragged inch, gasping for air…it’s okay. New day, new way. For many campers, the beginning of Week 3 symbolizes a glorious, almost magical time when the weight of Week 2 Blues is lifted, and suddenly the future looks inspiring again. It can be hard not to manically pursue that fresh

    Camp NaNo – Write 100

Week 2 of Camp Nanowrimo is upon us! For some, this is a pinnacle achievement – a whole week of writing dangerously under your belt! For others, it’s as dreadful as opening a door down to the dark cellar. Week 2 has gained a bit of ill repute, and for good reason: for many NaNo participants, this is “hell week,” the time when word counts flounder and inspiration takes a weeklong vacation. I remember dreading the start of Week 2 for many NaNos because, faithful as a trope, the

    Camp NaNo Kickoff!

NaNoWriMo season has begun! In November 2009, I remember hitting a serious low point in my writing. I had no inspiration, no direction, and little hope for the future of my craft. Thank God for a friend who introduced me to National Novel Writing Month. I hadn’t enjoyed writing so much in years! But as much as I love NaNo November, there’s something special about Camp. Maybe’s it’s the “wilderness retreat” feeling. Maybe it’s the camaraderie among cabinmates. Or maybe, like t
